Live Login

Smartsign 10.8 adds live login capabilities to the Windows Player. This means that the Smartsign Windows player will be able to attempt automatic login using credentials provided by you.

This section describes necessary prerequisites and technical details. For information on how to use the feature, please see the user guide (Webpages).

Important

Being able to perform login is very much dependent on the 3rd party webpage that you are trying to login to and every page is different.
While we strive to be as compatible as possible in this regard, we cannot provide any guarantees that it will work. Also, if it does work, we cannot guarantee that it will continue doing so.

Required versions

  • Smartsign Server 10.8 or higher
  • Smartsign Windows Player 10.8 or higher

Player settings

Setting Description
Use external WebView

Must be enabled to use live login, if disabled the webpage will instead be shown as a snapshot automatically.

The player normally loads URL:s in an iframe, enabling this setting will instead load the URL:s in a separate WebView (browser window)

Preload Urls

Enable or disable URL preload (default enabled)

The player can "preload" URL:s. This means that it will start loading the URL in advance, before it's actually supposed to show on screen.
This way, the URL can potentially finish loading and rendering before it's shown.

By using preload, the player also has a chance to perform the login procedure before showing.

Preload time

Time in milliseconds (0 default)

Specifies how long in advance the player should prepare a media item for playback

Only the next media item can be preloaded. This means that the preload time actually used will be limited to the display duration of the media showing before the URL.
